The temperatures seem to be dipping into Fall-approximate temperatures, and I know the sun is shifting because I was able to take down the shade on my deck…and also because it is starting to do things like this to trees:

Yes, Virginia, Fall does come to Southern California eventually. And when it does, parents in my classes suddenly realize that their children no longer fit into their colder climate clothes! Which reminds me that I have an article for that! Several years ago, I started keeping a list of parent recommendations for sourcing cooler weather clothing for babies and toddlers…since we have such a short window for that type of weather, it makes sense to shop smart. And as we are approaching a very wet Winter, I recommend rain pants/rain overalls to each and every parent who likes to take their toddlers to the parks in the mornings…wet playground equipment has nothing on rain pants! Thank you to Deb F. who first turned me onto that remarkable toddler accessory!!
I hope this article helps, and if YOU have a source or a particular item that YOU highly recommend…please tell me and I’ll add it to the list. This resource stays updated on my site (I remove outdated links at least once a year…when I send this email out!).
While I’m at it, I have another page that I keep updated and may come in handy as we approach the Holiday travel season…Parent Approved Tips and Tricks for Travel. On this page, I have a list of parent-recommended activities and some travel toys and accessories that have worked, as well as a couple of hints and strategies. Again, if you have anything to add, please let me know… I like to keep these pages updated and useful for parents!
Lastly, I have an announcement for all of my Southern California families…I’m bringing back Family RIE days! Once a month on Sundays, this class is for families who are new to RIE and want to learn more…It’s also for “RIE graduates” who would like to come back and reconnect with other RIE families (and me!). It’s a class for partners of RIE parents who don’t regularly come to class….And it’s a class for families that come regularly that just want to connect with other RIE families!
It’s open to all ages of children, and I’m offering two timeslots…10-12 and 3-5, so you can come to whichever slot works better for you. The first Sunday will be November 15th. All I ask is that you pre-register before 10AM on Saturday, November 14th. I plan to offer this at least every other month, maybe more often… depending on interest, so if you can’t make it that weekend, perhaps you can in the future!
I’ll be back in your inbox with more RIE musings soon, but for now…slow down! Remember to do less and observe more…that will lead you to enjoying most.
