RIE focuses on simple, everyday objects as toys for children. In any RIE class, sure, you’ll find dolls and stuffed animals, as well as balls and small cars, but you’ll also find repurposed Talenti and mayonnaise jars, colanders and measuring cups, fingernail brushes and frothing pitchers…simple, open-ended, everyday objects.
One thing I learned pretty early on is something you may also encounter…some of the most lovely items (like curlers or metal ramekins or mason jar rings) come in packs of 6 or 12…or 48…way more than you need in a class, or at home!
To that end, I’ve assembled a tidy collection of items that may be used with young infants and crawlers, but will also have some appeal for toddlers…as you know, children can’t go wrong with simple, everyday items!
Included in my kit are:
- 3 mason jar lid rings
- 4 silicone muffin molds
- 5 curlers of various sizes
- 2 1.5oz metal ramekins
- 2 2.5oz metal ramekins
- 4 wooden rings
- 1 wooden napkin ring
- 1 inflatable swim ring
- 2 cloth napkins
- 2 shallow baskets
Kits sell for $40, plus tax and shipping. To order, or for questions, contact me at melani@melaniladygo.com.
