CAREGIVER COURSE

Nurturing Nanny™ is a RIE® Certified Course, developed to provide caregivers an overview of the Educaring Approach in a condensed format. The class is specifically designed to help people who care for your child, but are new to RIE, learn more about the Approach.

Over the course of about 12 hours, through lecture, discussion, video observations, and some hands-on activities (yes, even online!) the course covers:

  • Diapering, dressing, and feeding with respect
  • Creating safe places for play and learning
  • The caregiver’s role during play
  • Setting appropriate limits
  • Establishing a healthy sleep routine
  • Supporting secure relationships
  • Enhancing employee-employer relations

Overall, the aim of the course is to give caregivers a basic understanding of the Educaring Approach, specifically in the key areas of respecting and connecting to children through care, how to respond to crying and tantrums in a healthy and connected way, and learning to let the child lead in play.

Enrollment comes with a short PDF handbook with articles for supplemental reading, a copy of The RIE Manual, Simple Toys Make Active Babies, and digital access to the 30 minute audiobook, Magda Gerber’s Educaring Approach, an Audio Guide for Nurturing Nannies and Other Caregivers.

At the completion of the course, the RIE® Office will send participants a certificate of completion and keep names on file in case a future employer wants to verify the training. Further, I offer a follow-up meeting sometime in the 2 months after training, for students to meet with me (45-60 minutes) to ask questions and share experiences.

The cost of a private course is $600, and is currently being offered online, through Zoom. To register or for more information, please email me at melani@melaniladygo.com.
